Q: What is the benefit of using Lehigh's Google search?
A: Lehigh's Google search utilizes the familiar interface that many users prefer, and is built upon Google's trusted and reliable search technology to produce relevant page results.

Q: Is there any difference between Lehigh's Google search and Google's Web site?
A: Lehigh's Google search looks exclusively at pages that are maintained by the University, while Google's Web site searches pages contained on the entire World Wide Web. In addition, Lehigh's Google search does not feature advertisements.

Q: How do I narrow my Google search entry to locate specific types of items?
A: You can customize your search using multiple words and Google's advanced search options. Here are a few of the most popular advanced search options to use. (Note: you would input the boldfaced words below into the Google search box to see the described results.)

• You can limit your search by file type. For example, enter filetype:ppt lehigh to find mentions of Lehigh within PowerPoint slides. Other popular file formats you can substitute include .pdf, .doc and .xls.
• You can use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard. For example, alice * gast finds mentions of Alice P. Gast. Google search is not case sensitive, so you can just use lower case in your entries.
• Be specific with terms and their order. For example, student housing lehigh will likely yield a better result than available houses.
• Phrase searches are more effective if you're searching for proper names ("asa packer"), titles/publications ("alumni bulletin"), or popular phrases ("financial aid").
