For External Applicants for Managerial and Professional Positions

Managerial and professional positions include administrative positions such as accountants, consultants, development and liaison officers, directors, executive directors, legal counsel, medical doctors, nurses and technology team leaders.

  • Send a resume and cover letter to the individual department advertising the vacancy. All contact will be with the hiring department.
  • Your application and/or resume will be considered only if you are applying for an open position.
  • Your qualifications will be reviewed by the hiring supervisor in the hiring department.
  • If your qualifications and background closely match the requirements for the position for which you are applying, you may be invited for an interview by the hiring supervisor.
  • If you are contacted for an interview you will be asked to complete an application. Please complete the application in full and read and sign the disclosure on the last page. Lehigh University conducts background checks on all new hires. Standard background checks include social security verification, education verification, and state and county criminal reports. Additional background checks may include a credit report, child abuse check, motor vehicle report and physical examination.
  • If you are interviewed but not selected for the position, you will be notified by the hiring department that the position has been filled.

NOTE:  Hiring decisions are made by the hiring department, not by Human Resources.

  • Apply only for positions for which you have most or all of the requirements.
  • Review the detailed job description for the position in which you are interested on file in the reception area of the Human Resources office. Our receptionist will be happy to assist you in locating the job description.
  • Submit complete and accurate information on your application and/or resume, including salary history and/or references where requested.
  • Identify the title for the positions for which you are applying.
  • Include in your cover letter, resume, or application, all job-related information explaining your skills, experience, and ability to successfully perform the duties of the position for which you are applying.
  • Provide telephone numbers where you can be reached during the day.

  •  Please be patient - the hiring process is often lengthy.
