An area rich in history and culture, Bethlehem offers quaint shops, as well museums and historical landmarks. Here is a guide to some of the highlights of the region.

• Pierce a body part at Outrageous on Fourth, right near Goosey Gander.

• Experience the Crayola Factory in downtown Easton, where you can watch crayons being made.

• Get your hair cut at one of the local barbers who still operate shops with an old-time feel within a mile or so of campus. Check out Clyde’s at 109 W. Fourth St., Derrico’s at 21 E. Fourth St., or Phil’s, at 520 Broadway.

• Fly a kite on Goodman Campus. Pick out a colorful, high-tech version at Burlesque Kites at 16-18 W. Third St.

• Take advantage of First Fridays on South Side Bethlehem, where most of the stores, shops and restaurants offer special activities to celebrate the first Friday of every month.
