Student Spotlight

"Before I came to Lehigh, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. But this program has already affected me. I’ve learned so much about globalization and I understand the concept of inter-connectedness so much more. It’s definitely increased my interest in other cultures."

State Grant programs, although sometimes restricted to in-state attendance, are important sources of aid. All applicants for university aid are required to apply for a state grant. If you are a Pennsylvania resident, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to February 1, 2007, to be considered for a state grant, which was valued up to $3,300 for 2005-2006. State grants are subtracted from the amount of Lehigh-funded grant aid. Failure to comply completely, and on time, may result in reduced grant aid that can only be replaced with additional loan assistance.

Federal Pell Grants are available to some students based on financial circumstances as determined from filing the FAFSA. The Pell Grant program is a "direct entitlement" in that, if you are eligible (based on the "expected family contribution" calculated under the federal methodology) it may be used at any approved institution of higher education. By contrast, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant program provides funding to the university so that as many Pell-eligible students as possible receive this grant.

We encourage students to explore private sources of financial aid either through their guidance offices or some of the scholarship search organizations. There are two groups (listed below) with which our students have had reasonable success in locating financial aid opportunities.
