The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Team in Training
April 2009
Vicky Steel '01

Vicky's fundraising efforts for the Avenue of the Giants Half Marathon have gone extremely well! She has already surpassed her goal of $5,000, which she has raised to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and is asking for continued support to help her reach her goal of $1,500 for her next race, the NIKE marathon in October.

"I can't begin to tell you how much this means to me and to the families who are affected by blood cancers!," Steel says.

No Excuses U: Mango Elementary
April 2009
Sara Najarro '02

Inspired by the success of No Excuses U in 2008, the Alumni Association has paired up with another classroom. Sara Najarro, a 2002 graduate of Lehigh and principal of Mango Elementary School in Fontana, Calif., contacted the Alumni Association when she discovered that her school would be participating in No Excuses U. Mrs. Gonzales's fifth-grade class recently received their very own package of Lehigh goodies!  Mrs. Gonzales said the children were "jumping and screaming" with excitement when they received their personalized packages.

"My students and I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!" she said. "We really appreciate the time and effort it took to put all of this together."
