"I really believe that the best person should get the job and the best story should get the space."
- Barb Newton '82, '86G
Lehigh's Greek system needs alumni volunteers to support individual chapters and members within those chapters, and to carry out the activities of the Greek Alumni Council (GAC). Many fraternity and sorority alumni already serve their chapters and the GAC. A number of chapters have a significant number of involved alumni, but for others, the alumni effort is limited to one or two individuals. This results in the chapter lacking sufficient alumni support, and the involved alumni suffer burnout.
A lesson learned each year is that chapters with significant alumni support perform much better in all phases of Greek life. Another lesson is that the addition of new alumni volunteers brings forth new energy and ideas.
Why get involved?
The unselfish reason is that you want to see your chapter and the Greek system at Lehigh prosper because your own Greek experience was beneficial and because you want to assist your chapter and its members prosper.
There are benefits to you personally as well:
