Alumni > Volunteer > Young Alumni > Young Alumni Council

Lehigh University Young Alumni Council (YAC) was established in 2001 to keep alumni connected, engaged, and involved in their first 10 years after graduation. YAC, along with the Lehigh University Alumni Association and University Advancement, sponsors programs and events that promote interaction with other alumni and current students.

YAC members are also an integral part in planning and supporting Lehigh events, such as the ever-popular Young Alumni Reunion, where young alumni get a change to reconnect with classmates and spend a weekend on South Mountain attending everything from a Tailgate to the BASH, our own "nightclub with a view." Young alumni also participate in other Alumni Association sponsored events, such as our world-wide Clubs and Alumni Admissions Outreach (AAO) programs, and our Career programs, including our highly successful Career Counseling sessions and Career Networking Receptions.

How do I become a member?

Young Alumni can contact Nancy Merritt '04, '05G, Director of Student and Young Alumni Programs, at nancy.merritt@lehigh.edu if they are interested in joining the Young Alumni Council. We are always looking for strong and dedicated alumni to fill roles on YAC as they become vacant. However, since there are limited seats available on YAC, we encourage our young alumni to get involved in other ways.

How can I get involved?

Getting involved is a snap! You can get involved in some or ALL of the following:

Become connected with Lehigh, its alumni, and its current undergraduates – register for lifetime e-mail forwarding, sign up to become an AAO volunteer, or conduct Alumni Interviews.
Get engaged in your area and attend the many Clubs events that take place throughout the year! What better way to engage with other alumni than to attend fun Club events such as happy hours, baseball games, theater and museum events? Are you thinking about a career move in your area or just looking to relocate entirely? Let Lehigh help! Contact our Career Solutions office to set up an appointment with our career specialists. Become involved in the future of Lehigh. Contribute a gift to the Lehigh Fund, attend events for our incoming students, or help current undergraduates network and meet other alumni at our Career Networking Receptions, which will be held in January.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is in charge of overseeing the YAC and is the principal leadership of young alumni at Lehigh. The Executive Committee, along with the members of YAC, seek to ensure that our young alumni are always connected, engaged, and involved in what is happening at Lehigh and how we can make their experience after Lehigh a better one.
