Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate from a mathematically rigorous program such as computer science, economics, engineering, finance, operations research, mathematics, or the sciences (physics/chemistry).  Four years of university level study are necessary for entry into Lehigh University. 

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis and applicants will receive notice 4-8 weeks after a complete application is made. 

Students begin the program in the summer or fall semester.

Foundations

Applicants must have the proper background courses necessary to pursue the M.S. in Analytical Finance degree.  An applicant is expected to have completed:

Introduction to Finance
Corporate Finance
Investment & Portfolio Management
Financial Accounting
Principles of Economics
Money, Banking & Financial Markets
Statistics (including regression analysis)
Calculus (3 terms)
Linear Algebra 

Applicants who have not completed the proper background courses may receive a conditional offer of admission and will be required to satisfactorily complete foundation course work prior to beginning regular M.S. in Analytical Finance course work.  Foundation work will not count toward the 33 credit hours required for the degree.

Examination(s) (e.g., GRE, GMAT, etc.) required

Admission standards: An applicant must meet the minimum CBE, ISE, or MATH graduate entrance standards. CBE requires an acceptable GMAT score (current mean score is 663) and 3.0 undergraduate GPA; ISE requires GRE quantitative and analytical scores no less than 75% (current average is 1259) and 3.0 senior year GPA.  Any exceptions will be reviewed and approved by the co-directors.

 International Applicants

International applicants must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.  Lehigh’s school code number is 2365, department code 02. 

International students will have their English skills evaluated through the TOEFL and GMAT/GRE scores. If the TOEFL and GMAT/GRE scores do not meet our requirements, students may be required to take the summer English Immersion program offered by the English as a Second Language Department and will be required to submit new TOEFL and SPEAK scores. If the scores do not meet our requirements, students must continue with ESL and may not take graduate level courses until meeting our English requirements. The TOEFL minimum score is 94 (iBT) (reading-25, LIstening-20, Speaking 24, Writing 25) 250 (CBT), 600 (PBT), and the SPEAK minimum score is 230.

In addition, international applicants must provide a financial guarantee to show sufficient funds for the first year of study. 

 Recommendations

Scores in at least the 75th percentile in the quantitative portion of the GRE or GMAT and a GPA of at least 3.0 increase the likelihood of a favorable admissions decision. Post-baccalaureate work experience is recommended but not required.

Application Deadlines

International Applicants – April 15

Domestic Applicants  – Applications are due by July 15.  When an application is received within two weeks before the start of fall classes, the student may be admitted on an associate student basis.

Enrollment Deposit

Due to the increasing popularity of the College of Business and Economics graduate programs all degree and non-degree students must submit a $250 deposit when accepting the offer of admission to secure a place in the class. The deposit must be received by the specific deadline noted in the offer letter. Upon matriculation, the deposit will be applied to tuition; if no tuition is due, the deposit will be refunded. A student who does not matriculate forfeits the deposit.
