Lehigh does provide a limited number of merit-based scholarships for students of exceptional ability and talent. Though selection is based on the unique criteria of each award, a student also demonstrating need, through filing of the CSS/PROFILE Application, will be limited to grant assistance the greater of the amount of that demonstrated need or the value of the award.

Dean's Scholar

Students who excel academically and who demonstrate leadership skills qualify for a Dean’s Scholar award. This award is available over four years. Students are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average to retain the benefits of this program

No additional application is necessary. All admitted candidates will be considered.

 

Martindale Scholar

The Martindale Student Associates Program has enabled a select group of juniors and seniors to explore business and economic issues in a foreign country each year since 1980. During the summer between their junior and senior year, a group of Student Associates spends 10 days or more in a foreign country, where they meet and interview business and government leaders and other policy-makers. Students and Martindale faculty advisers have traveled to Mexico, Canada, Argentina, France, Germany, England, the Czech Republic, Chile, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, and Panama.

After returning home, the students spend their senior year researching and writing a paper about business or economics issues pertaining to the country they visited. The papers are published annually in Perspectives on Business and Economics, the undergraduate journal of the Martindale Center, and distributed to over 1,500 people and libraries in the United States, Canada and parts of Europe.

The program is open to any qualified Lehigh junior. Applicants are chosen according to their academic records and the quality of essays they write about business and economics problems.

Application information: Scholars are nominated in mid-to-late January. Students with a grade point average of 3.4 or above are sent an invitation. Interested students must complete an essay and interview. All expenses associated with foreign and domestic travel are covered by the Martindale Center.

William G. McGowan Scholar

The goal of the William G. McGowan Scholars Program is to provide selected colleges and universities with a program to identify an outstanding student-undergraduate or graduate- enrolled in an accredited Business School at each participating college and award him/her a scholarship.
Scholars are chosen on the basis of academic performance, grade point average, a submitted essay, and other selected criteria. Each scholarship is for a period of one year only, during which time the student is known as the “William G. McGowan Scholar.”
Purpose
The purposes of the William G. McGowan Scholars Program are to:

• Recognize academic achievement and excellence of performance of students pursuing a major offered by the business school of the college or university.
• Encourage leadership ability, interpersonal skills and significant involvement in academic, campus and community activities.
• Reward excellence of character and other exemplary qualities including intellectual curiosity, a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial potential.
• Increase the awareness of the contribution made by William G. McGowan, founder and Chairman of MCI Communications Corporation, to the fields of business, telecommunications and entrepreneurship.

 

Tauck Scholar

The Tauck Scholars Program provides opportunities for business students during their junior and senior years. Endowed by Arthur Tauck ‘53, the program offers international summer internships and other learning opportunities to students in cultural settings that are new and "foreign to them." The College of Business and Economics wants to give highly motivated students the chance to do international summer internships that will help them in their career endeavors. Tauck Scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors, help new scholars prepare for their internships, and take part in special CBE activities.
