Courses Taught

Professor Giambatista joined the Lehigh faculty in Fall 2004 after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999) and serving on the faculty at Texas Tech University for four years. He has taught or co-taught courses in management, organizational behavior, decision-making, conflict and negotiation, philosophy of science (doctoral seminar), and executive (interpersonal) skills. His application of experiential teaching techniques in teaching conflict and negotiation and executive skills earned him the 2003 Best New Faculty Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association.

Bob's research interests include diversity, individual and group decision-making, and leadership. Among his publications are studies in two of the management field's leading journals, The Academy of Management Journal and Management Science. These artices examined how groups respond to changes in deadlines and non-routine disruptions and their relationship to group performance.

A Penn State alumnus (B.S, 1985, M.S. 1987) Bob grew up in Chester County, PA and remains an avid (hapless?) fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers. Blurring the line between hobby and work, his research published in Leadership Quarterly applied NBA coaching data in validating an inverted-U performance life cycle for NBA coaches. His other hobbies include running, cooking, and classical music.
