Ernest Lai joined the Department of Economics at Lehigh University in 2009. A native of Hong Kong, Professor Lai is a microeconomic theorist specializing in game theory. His dissertation is about strategic information transmission between experts and decision makers. He is also interested in experimental and behavioral economics and wants to learn more about health economics from his colleagues. Professor Lai has presented his work in the International Conference on Game Theory, the Third World Congress of the Game Theory Society and the Midwest Economic Theory Conference. He is a member of the American Economic Association and The Econometric Society.

Professor Lai had worked in the industry for a few years before he decided that academia is the right arena for him. He used to work in KPMG Hong Kong as a tax consultant. He is also a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the accounting body in the U.K. When he is not contemplating about his theoretical models, he spends time playing with his children - both human and feline - and practicing Taekwondo.
