Prior to joining the faculty at Lehigh, Chad D. Meyerhoefer served as a research economist at The CNA Corporation and the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). While at AHRQ he provided analytical oversight to the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey and was an adjunct professor of public policy at Georgetown University from 2006-2008.
Professor Meyerhoefer's doctoral thesis was recognized by the American Agricultural Economics Association as the Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation of 2002. He has presented his research at numerous professional meetings and published in a variety of outlets including Health Economics, The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, and Journal of Development Studies. His recent work has focused on the demand for mental health services, direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription pharmaceuticals, and the public policy implications of obesity and physical inactivity.
