Theodore Schlie is Associate Professor of Technology Management in the Department of Management. A graduate of Northwestern University, with MS and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management Science, his interests cut across the business and engineering colleges and he is a participating faculty member in the graduate Manufacturing Systems Engineering and the undergraduate Integrated Product Development programs, as well as in the MBA and undergraduate business programs. His research interests gravitate toward the intersection of technology/innovation management, competitive strategy, and public policy, and he has published in journals such as The Journal of Business Research, the International Journal of Technology Management, and Research Policy. Dr. Schlie started out his career in a contract research environment, supplying technical and management assistance to industrial research institutes in Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Nigeria, Colombia, and other developing countries, and then served in the International Trade Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce as an analyst and program manager. He began his academic career in 1985 at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and has been at Lehigh University since 1989.
