"Picking up on the engineering tie, we have programs where students are put in a situation where they are obligated to be thinking about cross-college, cross-disciplinary studies."

LEHIGH UNIVERSITY
Tenure Track Position
Perella Department of Finance
Full/Associate/Assistant
The Perella Department of Finance is now accepting applications for a tenure track Professor (open rank). We seek well-trained scholars/teachers with strong research skills to join our existing faculty in the Fall of 2009. These individuals must show the potential for publishing in major refereed finance journals. All areas will be considered, although our greatest needs are in the investment area with an interest in derivatives. Individuals nearing the completion of their doctoral program will be considered for the rank of assistant professor. Those desiring consideration at the rank of either associate or full professor must possess an established research and teaching record, including evidence of a portfolio of research in progress. Experience in the financial services industry is desirable.
This position is expected to complement ongoing initiatives within the department, the college, and the university. These initiatives include (a) the recent hiring of 2 assistant finance professors starting in the Fall 2008, (b) the naming of the Finance Department with a $10 million endowment from Joseph R. and Amy Perella in 2004, (c) the placement of key administrators (President Alice P. Gast in the Fall of 2006 and Dean Paul Brown in the Summer of 2007) within the university committed to fostering an environment in which the department can excel, (d) the launch of our Financial Services Lab in the Fall of 2004 which allows for new initiates for both the classroom and research endeavors, and (e) the introduction of the M.S in Analytical Finance in the Fall of 2005. Given these initiatives and others under way, the aim of the department is to increase the visibility of our programs especially at the undergraduate level and of the college. The chosen candidates are expected to contribute significantly to this effort through research, teaching, and service.
