LEHIGH UNIVERSITY
The Perella-Bolton Endowed Chair in Finance
Associate/Full

The Perella Department of Finance is now accepting applications and nominations for the Perella-Bolton Endowed Chair in Finance in the College of Business and Economics at Lehigh University. The chair has been endowed by Joseph R. Perella, who is a leading Wall Street executive. The chair may be filled at the associate or full professor level and includes a competitive salary and research support. The chair is awarded for a five-year period, beginning Fall 2010, and is renewable.

Candidates for the Chaired Professorship must have a distinguished record of research in Finance and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Individuals seeking this position may have research and teaching interests in any finance area, but our preference is for risk management, financial institutions, and quantitative finance. The candidate will be expected to provide a leadership role in the research endeavors of the department and development of academic programs, to mentor other faculty, and to strengthen ongoing relationships with the business community. This new Professorship complements recent initiatives within the department and the college, which include (a) the hiring of 3 assistant finance professors (2 which started in the Fall 2008 and 1 which is starting this Fall), (b) the hiring of 2 Perella Chairs (Paul Brockman in Finance and Gopal Krishnan in Accounting, (c) naming of the Finance Department with a $10 million endowment from Joseph R. and Amy Perella in 2004, (d) the placement of key administrators (President Alice P. Gast in the Fall of 2006, Dean Paul Brown in the Summer of 2007, and Provost Patrick Farrell in the Summer of 2009) within the university committed to fostering an environment in which the department can excel, (e) the launch of our Financial Services Lab in the Fall of 2004 which allows for new initiates for both the classroom and research endeavors, and (f) the introduction of the M.S in Analytical Finance in the Fall of 2005. Given these initiatives and others under way, the aim of the department is to increase the visibility of our finance programs and the college, and the chosen candidate is expected to contribute significantly to this effort.
