Engineering Spotlight Spotlight

"Academically, Lehigh was terrific. For example, in my electrical engineering classes, we always worked in small groups—which was an unusual education practice back in the early 1980s—but it simulated quite well how things would work in the real world once I graduated."

Great talents and bright minds flourish at Lehigh, as the accomplishments of our engineering graduates clearly show. A sampling of our list of distinguished alumni demonstrates the many paths that Lehigh engineering graduates have followed, including Lee A. Iacocca, James W. Packard of Packard Automobiles, NASA astronaut Terry Hart, and Dr. William Pierce, inventor of the first smooth, surgically-implantable artifical heart to receive widespread clinical use.

The Lehigh Engineering Heritage Initiative is an online resource of, by, and for Lehigh engineers.

The project has been initiated to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of alumni, faculty, and associates of Lehigh’s engineering program throughout the years, and to collect from the broad Lehigh community stories, recollections, and images that highlight the breadth and depth of our impact in the field.
