(biochemical processes, genetic engineering, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, metabolic engineering, etc.)
To earn a minor in Biotechnology, a student must register for at least 15 credits of coursework distributed as follows:
REQUIRED COURSES:
BioS 371 Elements of Biochemistry I (3)
(Prerequisite: one year of organic chemistry)
ChE 341 Biotechnology I (3)
(Prerequisites: Chm 187, Math 22, Phy 11, and senior standing)
ChE 342 Biotechnology II (3)
(Prerequisites: ChE 341 and senior standing)
ChE 346 Biochemical Engineering Laboratory (3)
OR, with the approval of program advisor:
BioS 377 Biochemistry Laboratory (3)
(Prerequisite: BioS 371 previously or concurrently)
ELECTIVES:
BioS 372 Elements of Biochemistry II (3)
(Prerequisite: BioS 371)
OR, one other BioS course approved by the program advisor.
