Lehigh's unique and rigorous cooperative education program allows qualifying engineering students to work eight months at a paid industrial or government internship and still graduate in four years.

Sophomores ranking in the top third of their class academically are invited to participate in the program.  Those recruited by a company or agency work the fall semester of their junior year and the following summer.

Co-op students graduate in four years, with their classmates, by taking junior level courses during the summer before their junior year.

The program offers these advantages:

  • Students can choose from a wide variety of employers, including large and small industrial firms and government agencies and those located across the country.
  • Students gain firsthand knowledge of industry practices and get a head start on the job search, while being paid a competitive salary.
  • Many companies hiring co-op students provide assistance with relocation and housing.

More than 50 companies have participated in the Co-op Program, and they include:  Air Products & Chemicals, Allied Signal, Accenture, B. Braun, Binney & SMith, Dupont, Exxon, Mobil, General Motors, Hershey, IBM, Ingersoll Rand, Intel, Kiewit Construction, Lockheed Martin, Lucent, Lutron, Merck, Procter & Gamble, UPS, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Walt Disney World.
