The department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) conducts cutting-edge research in a variety of key fields and encourages students to take an active role in the rapid growth of its graduate program. 

Computer Science faculty maintain nationally funded research programs in a variety of areas including:

  • Web-based information systems, Web search, and the Semantic Web
  •  Networking, including network security and wireless infrastructure
  • Pattern recognition and image processing
  • Robotics, machine vision, and autonomous systems

Computer Science students start their own research projects upon enrolling in the program.  They typically work in teams, interacting closely with their professors, with other CSE research groups, and with researchers throughout Lehigh, including those in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering.
