The goal of the graduate program in Information and Systems Engineering is to provide advanced education and research opportunities in information technology, quantitative decision making, and systems engineering. There is broad emphasis on applications in financial analysis, supply chain management, and telecommunications.

Students may select courses from three core areas:

  • Information Economics: Understand economic issues of information systems in business organizations, manufacturing and service sector operations, and financial institutions, e.g., evaluating IT investments, replacement analysis and asset management, strategic information systems, and e-Business.
  • Quantitative Systems Analysis: Knowledge in operations research and management science techniques for decision-making/decision analysis, and hands-on experience in advanced computing tools, e.g., parallel and distributed computing, large-scale modeling and simulation, financial engineering, optimization, data mining, stochastic processes and queueing analysis.
  • Information Technology: Training in computer and communication technologies needed to design and implement information systems, e.g., advanced software engineering, telecommunications, database systems, web technologies, ERP systems, etc.
