Graduate Degrees offered:
M.S., M.Eng. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics

The graduate program in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM) offers a challenging environment in which students work closely with faculty who are internationally renowned for their research.
Key features of the program include:

  • A comprehensive curriculum that accommodates students pursuing the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees as well as the professional M.Eng. degree;
  • Strong research collaborations with industrial partners and with faculty from other countries;
  • Unique laboratory facilities.
    Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics graduate students typically conduct research in teams on interdisciplinary projects in areas that include:
  • Materials processing and manufacturing
  • Fluid-solid interactions
  • Composite structures
  • Smart materials
  • Integrity and reliability of engineering systems
  • Integrated product development
  • Biomechanics
  • Mechatronics
  • Energy and the environment
  • Thermal-fluid systems
