The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering encourages its students to be competent in a discipline while getting as broad an education as possible. Technical minors allow engineering students to enhance their studies and to explore emerging technologies.

Lehigh offers these engineering technical minors, with the option of creating focused study plans in some areas:

Aerospace Engineering Minor
The minor program in Aerospace Engineering is intended primarily for Mechanical Engineering majors who intend to pursue a career in the aerospace industry. This minor will provide sufficient technical background in aerospace studies for undergraduates to successfully enter graduate programs in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Sciences, and related aerospace fields.

Biotechnology Minor
The Biotechnology Minor offers studies in biochemical processes, genetic engineering, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, and metabolic engineering. Any Lehigh engineering student may apply for the Biotechnology Minor.

Chemical Engineering Minor
The Chemical Engineering Minor offers studies in chemical and biochemical systems, transport phenomena, reaction engineering, multicomponent systems, vapor-liquid equilibrium, and pharmaceuticals.

Computer Science Minor
The Computer Science Minor provides a basic familiarity with software development and programming, computer organization, and essential elements of computer science. This minor is not available to students of the Computer Science and Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering departments.

Electrical Engineering Minor
The purpose of the Electrical Engineering minor is to enable students to supplement their major with knowledge and skills that increase their ability to realize their multi-disciplinary goals and/or make them more marketable upon graduation.

Energy Engineering Minor
The minor in Energy Engineering touches upon the technologies associated with the transformation and use of energy in various forms. Since every sector of engineering and the economy require energies of one form or another, the courses included in this minor program will permit student exposure to fossil, nuclear and renewable energy technologies.

Environmental Engineering Minor
The Environmental Engineering Minor offers studies in water and wastewater treatment, remediation of polluted waters and soils, recycled materials, environmentally benign processes, catalytic converters, fuel cells, and waste reduction. This minor is not available to students of the Civil and Environ-mental Engineering department.

Manufacturing Systems Minor
The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Minor offers studies in manufacturing processes, production analysis and control, work systems, facilities planning, material handling, automation and robotics, and production engineering.

Materials Science Minor
The Materials Science Minor offers studies in engineering materials, plastics, ceramics, metals, coatings, processing, and electronic materials.

Mechanics of Materials Minor
The minor in mechanics of materials provides a view of mechanical strength and behavior of materials based on understanding a few basic concepts and using simplified material models,

Nanotechnology Minor
The Nanotechnology Minor offers studies in thin films, nanocharacterization, microelectronic technology, colloids, and other subjects dealing with engineering at the nano-scale.

Polymer Science and Engineering Minor
The Polymer Science and Engineering Minor offers studies in polymer synthesis, processing, physical and chemical properties, composite materials, emulsions, and polymer applications.
