Our undergraduate programs are founded upon in-depth, hands-on inquiry-based learning. We believe that a firm grasp of engineering theory is essential – but the only way to develop this is to be personally involved in making theory come alive in faculty-directed laboratories and self-initiated research projects.

We take this notion one step further by fostering entrepreneurial thinking among our undergraduate researchers. Lehigh is recognized internationally for integrating the three fundamental pillars of successful product design and commercialization -- design arts, engineering and business – and providing educational platforms that allow undergraduate researchers to transform novel ideas into real-world business opportunities.

  • Cooperative Education (CoOp): Lehigh's unique and rigorous cooperative education program allows qualifying engineering students to work eight months at a paid industrial or government internship and still graduate in four years
  • Integrated Product Development (IPD): The only undergraduate curriculum in the nation to fully integrate the three fundamental pillars of successful product design and commercialization: design arts, engineering and business.
  • Opportunities for Student Innovations (OSI): Students in this program develop critical problem solving and technical communication skills by seeking innovative solutions to relevant industrial problems.
  • UG Research Week: Lehigh’s annual celebration of undergraduate research
