Earthquake Resistant Structures
New systems for buildings and bridges. Innovative self-centering systems. Probabilistic performance-based design. Passive and semi-active damping systems. Evaluating and improving performance of existing steel and precast systems. Large-scale, real-time hybrid earthquake simulations.
Simulation, Measurement and Evaluation
New methods for large-scale laboratory tests and simulations. Field monitoring and evaluation of in-service structures. Non-destructive evaluation of structures and structural materials.
Infrastructure Reliability, Maintenance and Life-Cycle Performance
Reliability and risk of structures and civil ifrastructure systems. Life prediction, life-cycle performance optimization under conflicting objectives. Bridge network maintenance planning.
Intelligent Infrastructure Systems
Advanced technological innovations in hardware design, software architecture and system algorithms for monitoring, evaluation, and damage detection of structures with an emphasis on infrastructure monitoring and management.
Infrastructure Hazard Mitigation
Evaluating risks to infrastructure systems from multiple hazards including fire, blast and earthquake loadings and providing reliable mitigation technology
