ASCE Student Chapter: Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 133,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America's oldest national engineering society. ASCE's vision is to position engineers as global leaders building a better quality of life. Chi Epsilon: Dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of civil engineering as a ideal profession. Engineers Without Borders: EWB is a student-run organization that helps developing communities with basic infrastructure needs. Lehigh's students design and help construct community infrastructure such as water supply systems and water treatment facilities. The students also work to bring awareness, both on and off campus, to the world's ever growing need for sustainable solutions to infrastructure needs in both the developed and developing worlds. Fritz Engineering Research Society: The Fritz Engineering Research Society was founded in 1935 and is headquartered at the Fritz Engineering Research Laboratory at Lehigh University. FERS is a professional organization promoting experimental research in all areas of civil engineering. FERS provides support by creating a forum allowing the exchange of ideas on technical topics relevant to its members Tau Beta Pi: Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character. There are now collegiate chapters at 221 U.S. colleges and universities, active alumnus chapters in 16 regions across the United States and a total initiated membership of 429,000. Office of Graduate Student Life: The Office of Graduate Student Life is a division of Student Affairs. It's mission is to make Lehigh a hospitable place that is engaging, inspiring, and supportive to graduate students. The Office of Graduate Student Live and the Graduate Student Center is housed in the historic Sayre Observatory. |
