May 2004 Excellence honored Faculty awards for excellence in teaching, research, and service were recently announced by Israel Wachs, professor of chemical engineering, received the Hillman Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Advising. Khaled Alfadhel, a graduate student in chemical engineering, received the Lehigh University Teaching Assistant Award for the P. C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. The Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (RCEAS) has for many years hosted a one day program entitled CHOICES (Charting Horizons and Opportunities In Careers in Engineering and Science). Girls from local middle schools come to campus for one day to learn about engineering and science through hands-on projects and demonstrations. Based on the positive experiences with CHOICES, RCEAS has made the decision to host a pilot program (week long) day camp this summer.
