Dr. Xiaoqing Ding "Image Pattern Recognition Research at Tsinghua Univ.'s IDIP Lab" Friday, September 29, 4:00 PM Packard Lab -- Room 416
Image pattern recognition research carried out in Tsinghua's IDIP Lab embraces character recognition, document image analysis, biometric authentication, computer vision, and video surveillance. IDIP developed the commercially influential THOCR family of Chinese character recognition systems for machine-printed text as well as for handwriting, both on-line (dynamic pen-traces) and off-line (static images). Document image analysis research has expanded to include multi-lingual document recognition systems for Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and a variety of underserved languages such as Tibetan and Uighur. Recent research includes multimodal biometric verification and identification algorithms using face, handwriting, signatures, etc.
Dr. Xiaoqing Ding is a Principal Professor in the Dept. of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. She has published more than 330 papers and has co-authored four books. She has earned several Chinese National Scientific and Technical Progress Awards. She serves on the editorial boards of several journals and is an IAPR Fellow. |
