Dr. Martin Farach-Colton

"Data in the Memory Hierarchy"

Tuesday, November 7, 4:00 PM

Packard Lab -- 208

Advances in the theory of memory hierarchies are changing the way we think of algorithms on massive data.  I will review some of these advances and their implications, illustrating when possible how these changes affect such applications as data bases and file systems.

Martin Farach-Colton has been a professor at Rutgers for more years than he cares to admit.  In the mean time, he has also worked at Bell Labs and Google.  He is currently on sabbatical at 22 by 7 Labs (bonus points for figuring out the name).  His current research interests center on memory-conscious algorithmics.
