The Department, through the Division of Engineering Mathematics, also offers graduate degrees in applied mathematics. Students can pursue these degrees on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Master of Science Program in Applied Mathematics (with thesis) is designed for students who are interested in the application of analytical and computational techniques to problems in the engineering and physical sciences. Interaction with industry is strongly encouraged.

Doctor of Philosophy Program in Applied Mathematics is concerned with advanced graduate study in the applications of mathematics to problems of practical and industrial relevance. A qualifying examination is required and consists of written tests in analytical methods, numerical methods, and a topic from the physical and engineering sciences. The latter topic is chosen by the candidate but must be approved by the Division.
