Fall 2008

Justin Barton is the 2008 recipient of the H.R. and Y.B. Wei Prize for Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.  This prize recognizes an outstanding undergraduate student who has completed his or her junior year in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, and has demonstrated both outstanding academic achievement and leadership qualities.  This prize comes with a plaque and a monetary gift.

Justin Barton has been selected by the Committee on Awards and Prizes as the winner of the Bill Hardy Memorial Prize.  This prize is given to a junior who most nearly reflects the qualities that typified Bill Hardy while he attended Lehigh University.  The award is based upon financial need, character and personality, scholastic achievement and leadership qualities.

Justin Barton has been chosen as the recipient of the Charles F. Homewood Scholarship in 2008.  This award is awarded to deserving students from Lehigh University and Lafayette College by The Lehigh Valley Section of ISA, The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society.

May 2009 Senior Award Recipients:

The Cornelius Prize is awarded to Valentina Baio and Karen Oren.
This prize is awarded to the senior Mechanical Engineering student who is judged to have profited most by their opportunities at Lehigh.  The award is based on 70% scholarship, 20% on attainment in general culture and 10% on development in personality.

The Andrew Wilson Knecht III Memorial Award is awarded to Jordan Smith.  This is awarded to the graduating senior who has exhibited the greatest potential for applying technical training to practical application.

The Alan H. Stenning Award is awarded to Jason Putt. This is awarded for excellence in an undergraduate engineering project.  

The Ferdinand P. Beer Award is awarded to Justin Barton.
  This is awarded for excellence in the field of Mechanics.
