Three win EPI poster awards

Two graduate students and one postdoctoral researcher won poster presentation awards and cash prizes at the recent annual review meeting of the Emulsion Polymer Institute's Industrial Liaison Program.

Hyungsoo Kim, a Ph.D. candidate in polymer science and engineering, took first prize for a poster titled "Metal Encapsulation of Latex Particles." His advisers are Andrew Klein, professor of chemical engineering, and EPI principal research scientists Eric Daniels and Victoria Dimonie.

Brian L. Boyars, a Ph.D. candidate in chemical engineering, took second prize for a poster titled "Film Formation from Reactive Latexes." Boyars' advisers are Klein and Daniels.

Christopher D. Anderson, a postdoctoral research associate, took third prize for a poster titled "Particle-Based Slippery Material Technologies for Non-Lethal Weapons Applications." Anderson received his M.S. in chemical engineering from Lehigh in 1999 and his Ph.D. in 2002 under the guidance of Mohamed El-Aasser, dean of the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, and EPI principal research scientist E. David Sudol.

The posters, presented at an evening poster session, were evaluated for content, appearance, and presentation by representatives from companies that support the EPI's research programs.
