Chaudhury edits new text on surfaces

Manoj Chaudhury, who is internationally renowned for his research into surface science and adhesion, has co-edited a new textbook called Surfaces, Chemistry and Applications.

The book is the second volume in the Elsevier series Adhesion Science and Engineering.

Chaudhury, professor of chemical engineering, is associate editor of the text. Alphonsus V. Pocius, a corporate scientist with 3M Company of St. Paul, Minn., is editor.

Topics covered in the book include interfacial thermodynamic and practical adhesion, contact mechanics, the intermolecular forces that control adhesion of solid surfaces, surface roughness, spectroscopic techniques, the chemistry of adhesives, phenolic chemistry, bismaleimides, and applications of adhesion of science.

Chaudhury, who directs Lehigh’s Center for Polymer Interfaces, has contributed five articles on surface science to Science, the nation’s leading science journal.
