Control researchers active at conferences
At the 2004 American Control Conference held June 30 to July 2 in Boston, Leonidas Bleris, a Ph.D. candidate in electrical engineering, received an award for "Best presentation in the session" for a paper titled "Reduced Order Control in Microchemical Systems." The paper was co-authored with Bleris's adviser, Mayuresh Kothare, who is the R. L. McCann Associate Professor of chemical engineering and also the co-director of Lehigh's Center for Process Modeling and Control. At the conference, Kothare co-chaired a session on "Linear Model Predictive Control - III" and also co-authored a paper titled "Two Level Model Predictive Control for the Maximum Control Invariant Set" with P. Grieder, Z. Wan and M. Morari. At the 7th IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) Conference on Dynamics and Control of Process Systems (DYCOPS-7) held July 5-7, also in Boston, Bleris presented a paper titled "Embedded Model Predictive Control for System-on-Chip Applications" that was co-authored withKothare and also with Mark Arnold, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, and Jesus Garcia, a graduate student in computer science at Lehigh. Kothare chaired a keynote session at the IFAC conference.
