New encyclopedia on optics includes article by Prof. McAulay

A five-volume Encyclopedia of Modern Optics, recently published by Elsevier, contains an article titled "Optical bit-serial computing" written by Alastair McAulay, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

The encyclopedia contains more than 300 articles in 75 subject fields. McAulay's article is included in a section on information processing.

Elsevier is an international, multiple-media publisher of journals, books, databases and portals for the scientific, technical and medical communities.

McAulay, a Fellow of the International Society for Optical Engineering, specializes in optical networking and computing.
