The first keynote address was given by David Chang, president of New York City’s Polytechnic University. The second was given by Barry Lam, chairman and CEO of Quanta Computer Inc., the world’s largest maker of laptop computers. Lam was cited by Business Week magazine as one of the top 25 managers corporate managers in the U.S. in 2001. The WOCC is organized by several major Chinese-American professional organizations, including the Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA, the Photonics Society of Chinese Americans, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese-American Academic and Professional Society, the Monte Jade Science and Technology Association, and IEEE’s North Jersey Communications Chapter. The main objective of the conference is to strengthen the technical and business relationships between the Asian and North American wireless and optical communications industries and provide a forum to bring together experts and industry leaders to exchange advancement in wireless and optical communications technologies, business experiences, and jointly explore new opportunities.
