Wachs, Choi give presentation at CNSF exhibition in Washington, D.C.
Israel Wachs, professor of chemical engineering, and Sukwon Choi, a
Ph.D. candidate in chemical engineering, gave a presentation on their
research at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., on May 15, at the
eighth-annual Exhibition and Reception of the Coalition for National
Science Funding. The researchers discussed “Converting Pollution to
Profits: Modern Alchemy.” They were chosen by the American Society of
Engineering Education (ASEE) and the National Science Foundation (NSF),
and were the only engineers selected to represent ASEE at the meeting.
Choi was invited to return to Washington to give the presentation again
to ASEE and NSF.
While in Washington, Wachs, Choi and Eric Iversen of ASEE visited the
offices of Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter and Congressmen Pat
Toomey, Curt Weldon and Melissa Hart to discuss federal research
funding. Wachs also met with the U.S. House Subcommittee on Environment,
Technology and Standards to discuss his research.
