Lehigh Engineering's research endeavors cut to the very core of society's grand challenges in science and engineering. Our research provides the technological underpinning to Lehigh University's comprehensive strategic plan that rallies campus research around three areas of emphasis: the expanding needs of health care in the U.S. and abroad; the interrelated issues of energy, the environment and modern infrastructure; and the impact of globalization.

Lehigh Engineering's Research Advisory Council is a standing faculty committee that supports and promotes these areas through the cross-pollination of ideas, resources, and facilities across science and engineering disciplines. Members of the committee are as follows:
Their goal is to integrate research and academic missions, identify new areas of exploration, and coordinate resources for maximum impact. To achieve this goal, subcommittees have been formed to address the following engineering research areas:
