Myer M. Alperin 1948
Myer M. Alperin graduated from Lehigh University in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. While a student, he was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity, track team, and debate club. Following graduation, Alperin began his career with his father’s manufacturing business, Alperin, Inc. He served as president, treasurer, CEO, and chairman of the board, and is now retired. Alperin is an active community volunteer, having served as a director on the Scranton, Pa. Chamber of Commerce, the Northeast Tier Ben Franklin Technology Center, and on the governor’s small business advisory committee, among others. Alperin’s leadership and interest in Pennsylvania’s economic growth enabled the successful establishment of the Ben Franklin Northeast Technology Center and Manufacturing Resource Center on Lehigh’s campus. The program is part of a state-funded economic development initiative that links early-stage technology firms and established manufacturers with funding, people, technology, universities, and other resources.

Alperin’s generosity to Lehigh includes the Alperin Family Scholarship, the Lehigh Fund, the Myer M. and Shirley Alperin Charitable Remainder Unitrust, and the Myer Alperin ’48 Gift Annuity. He was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree by Lehigh in 1996.

Alperin and his wife, Shirley, live in Clarks Summit, Pa. He has two children, Thomas and James ’79.
