William W. Crouse III 1964 
William W. Crouse graduated from Lehigh with a B.S. in business administration from the College of Business and Economics, and earned an M.B.A. with distinction in marketing management from Pace University.
Crouse is managing director and a general partner of HealthCare Ventures, one of the world’s largest venture capital firms specializing in biotechnology. He has more than 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industry in general management, international operations, strategic planning, licensing, acquisitions, new product development, and sales and marketing.
Prior to joining HealthCare Ventures, Crouse was worldwide president of Ortho Diagnostic Systems and a vice president of Johnson & Johnson International from 1987 to 1993. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Crouse was division director of DuPont Pharmaceuticals, and previously served as president of Revlon Health Care Group’s companies in Latin America, Canada and Asia/Pacific. He also held various sales, marketing and management positions at E.R. Squibb & Sons and lived and worked in Latin America and Europe for seven years.
A Lehigh University trustee since 1994, Crouse serves on the academic affairs, cultural affairs, executive, public affairs, and development committees. He became a corporate trustee in 2005. Crouse is currently a member of the advisory board for the College of Business and Economics. In 1997, Crouse established the William W. Crouse III Endowed Scholarship Fund. He also helped underwrite the cost of the Lehigh Room in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and has supported Grace Hall renovations and the faculty of the College of Business and Economics. Crouse is a member of the Tower Society and the Asa Packer Society.
Crouse currently serves on the board of directors for the Medicines Company, where he is chairman of the corporate governance committee, and ImClone Systems, Inc., where he serves on the audit and compensation committee. He is also on the board of directors of several private biotechnology companies.
Among his community activities, Crouse serves as a trustee and executive committee member of the New York Blood Center and served as chairman of the New Jersey Blood Services Blood Drive. He is a former board member of the Liberty Science Center. Crouse is a former member of the board of trustees and the executive committee of the United Way of Somerset County, whose annual fundraising campaign he co-chaired. He also served on the board of directors of Pace University and the Lubin Graduate School of Business Alumni Association. He was active in the Health Industry Manufacturers Association and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association.
Currently, Crouse divides his time between his homes in New York and Florida.
