Greg L. Butz 1979
Greg L. Butz, a native of Allentown, Pa., graduated from Lehigh University in 1979 with a degree in civil engineering. In 1981, he obtained an M.B.A. from Lehigh.
He began his career in the construction industry during his high school days, working for his grandfather's construction management firm, Alvin H. Butz, Inc. He has been employed at the firm as a construction laborer, assistant field superintendent, project manager, senior project manager, and vice president. In 1995, when his father, Lee Butz, assumed the role of C.E.O., Greg succeeded him as president of the firm. Butz is the third president in the company's history, following in the footsteps of his father and his grandfather, Alvin H. Butz.
Butz is an active volunteer for the university, and currently serves as a member of the Wall Street Council and Lehigh Leadership Council. His support of the university includes athletics, Challenge Scholarship, and Linderman Library. Butz lives in Orefield, Pa.
