Gift Planning
Planned giving allows alumni and friends to maximize their charitable intentions for Lehigh and provide for themselves and their heirs, while reducing the amount of their income and estate subject to taxation.
Asa Packer, in founding Lehigh University in 1865, wanted his vision for the university to transcend the generations. Many have been inspired by his generosity and prudent gift planning. They have followed his leadership example and today more than 2,400 individuals have made planned gifts to support the university’s educational mission. Their generosity provides scholarships, fellowships, endowed chairs and professorships, and continues to provide enduring educational opportunities for Lehigh students.
Professional staff members with the Planned Giving Program can assist you in arranging outright gifts of stock, life insurance and other property for either immediate use or endowment. In addition, they can help you create plans that will provide you and/or loved ones with income for life, while providing for the university and generations of Lehigh students in the long term. If your focus is estate planning, the planned giving team offers information on favorable methods for leaving the maximum legacy to Lehigh, while benefiting your heirs and minimizing the portion of your estate lost to taxes. The planned giving area also works with individuals who are interested in making gifts to the endowment and in including the University in their estate plans.
