Executive andProfessional EducationSeminars, workshops, and degree and certificate programs give individuals and professional groups an opportunity to expand their own skills as well as to network and exchange ideas. Distance education is also offered through the Lehigh Educational Satellite Network. COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES In addition to traditional department-based studies, Lehigh’s College of Arts and Sciences offers distance education programs such as project management principles for pharma, proteomics, and pharmaceutical, clinical and organic chemistry. Students can pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in a wide range of programs that emphasize original research and a commitment to scholarly excellence. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS On campus: The College of Business and Economics offers executive education courses and advanced business degrees such as the combined MBA programs, master’s degrees economics, accounting and information analysis, and analytical finance. Certificate programs in supply chain management, project management, and organizational leadership (in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences) are also available, as is the vSeries seminars in corporate entrepreneurship and new venture creation. Distance and online education: The supply chain management and project management certificate programs are also available via distance education. The MBA, traditionally provided through both on-campus and distance education, is now also available online. Individual courses such as financial reporting, transportation and logistics management, and business-to-business marketing are also online. COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
The College’s Project Management Certificate program, developed for individuals with educational or professional experience in a variety of industries and disciplines, teaches skills in organization, leadership, vision, and project scope management. From engineering, health care, and information technology to instructional design and development, successful project management requires an overarching skill set to ensure that the project is completed on time and on budget. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & APPLIED SCIENCE Along with graduate programs, the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science offers interdisciplinary degree programs such as the B.S./M.Ed. with a teaching certificate, and master’s level programs in business administration and engineering; computational engineering and mechanics; management systems engineering; photonics; polymer science and engineering; and wireless communications and networking. Distance master’s level engineering programs include study of manufacturing systems; mechanical, chemical, or quality engineering; and polymer science and engineering. Individual online courses are plentiful, including chemical engineering for non-chemical engineers. IACOCCA INSTITUTE
The Iacocca Institute, jointly founded in 1988 by Lee Iacocca and Lehigh University, is focused on cultivating the potential of individuals and on increasing the global competitiveness of organizations through seminars and customized development programs for professionals, students, and organizational constituents. Professional Education provides timely events and networking opportunities for learning and the exchange of ideas in forums such as project management seminars; values-based leader workshop; finance and accounting for non-financial professionals seminars; customized programs to improve the skill sets of mid-level managers; and a leadership breakfast series with presentations such as leading in the future, motivating employees, ethics, and leadership styles. Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry® is an applied leadership, cross-cultural training program designed for young professionals and experienced students who share the dream of building a career in business and industry. Throughout the six-week summer program held on Lehigh’s campus, a diverse group of interns from 35 different countries participate in interactive seminars, networking sessions, business trips, consulting projects and cultural experiences. Global Village on the Move is a professional and cultural development program that provides an off-shore and themed 7-10 day learning experience in locations around the globe. Upcoming programs are scheduled for the United Arab Emirates (2006) and China (2008). |
