The Center is the focal point for manufacturing-related activities involving graduate education and research. It facilitates the development of the knowledge of manufacturing sciences, systems and technologies and promotes the transfer of this knowledge to industry for practical application.

Center for Optical Technologies
The Center is a multi-institutional initiative based at Lehigh University with a charter to advance research and applications of optical and optoelectronic technologies.  Currently the two primary research focus areas are Optical Networking Technologies, and Sensor and Display Technologies.  Lehigh is partnering in this endeavor with Pennsylvania State University, Lehigh Carbon and Northampton Community Colleges, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and a growing list of local and national companies through the Center's Industrial Liaison Program.

Center for Polymer Science and Engineering
The Center provides a unique opportunity for seventeen faculty and fifty students from traditional departments of chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering and mechanics, and physics, to perform interdisciplinary research in polymers.

Center for Promoting Research to Practice
The mission is to generate new knowledge that will truly impact the lives of individuals with, or at risk for disabilities.  The primary objective of the Center is to establish partnerships with schools, parents and families, and community service providers to enhance the use of best practices for individuals with, or at risk for disabilities.

Chemical Process Modeling and Control Research Center
The Center aims to educate a special group of M.S. and Ph.D. graduates and to develop advanced technologies in process modeling, monitoring, and controller design that enable industries to reduce process and product variability, improve process productivity and operability and enhance product quality.

Energy Research Center
The faculty and staff of the Center participate in many aspects of energy research, with major emphasis on research for the electric utility industry. Projects dealing with power plant performance and emissions control improvements, instrumentation for performance and emissions monitoring, coal cleaning, biofouling control of cooling systems, and evaluation of materials and coatings for boiler components in low NOx environments.

Engineering Research Center for Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS)
A center devoted exclusively to the construction and large-structure industries, the role of ATLSS is to conduct research and educate students on technology issues affecting these industries in design, fabrication, construction, inspection, and protection.

Enterprise Systems Center
With 25 years of contracted systems research with local and national companies, the Enterprise Systems Center (ESC) is committed to enriching students’ education while working to make its clients in industry more efficient and increasingly competitive. The ESC utilizes students, faculty, and industry specialists  to work in teams capable of tackling a variety of real world industry problems. Participation in these work teams provides students with a level of work experience representative of what they will encounter following graduation and where possible, opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership skills.

Martindale Center for the Study of Private Enterprise
The Martindale Center advances educational and scholarly programs to increase understanding of the U.S. economy and its relationship with the world economy.

Murray H. Goodman Center for Real Estate Studies
The center provides financial support and other assistance for undergraduate courses in real estate and real estate finance, supports scholarly research in real estate, and sponsors joint activities with practitioners in the real estate field.

Philip and Muriel Berman Center for Jewish Studies
The cornerstone of the Center's program is its undergraduate teaching program, which includes 26 Jewish studies. Study in Israel is encouraged to augment and broaden students' understanding of Jewish civilization. Under the sponsorship of the Berman Center, students may study for a year, semester, or summer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem or Tel Aviv University.

Polymer Interfaces Center (PIC)
The center is an industry/University Cooperative Research Center that was established at Lehigh University in 1991 in conjuction with the National Science Foundation (NSF), and is one of approximately 50 centers that have been established at universities throughout the U.S. in an effort to leverage industrial development with university science.  In this arragement, university professors, research scientists and gradute students conduct industrially-relevant fundamental research while member companies and the NSF provide operating funds and guidance on the kinds of model polymers, model substrates and goals that are of interest to them.

Sherman Fairchild Center for Solid-State Studies
The Center provides offices and laboratories for an interdisciplinary staff from the departments of physics, materials science and engineering, and electrical engineering.

Research Institutes:

Biopharmaceutical Technology Institute
The Biopharmaceutical Technology Institute coordinates the education and research activity in the biopharmaceutical area of the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Departments at Lehigh University. The main focus of this institute is to contribute to the creation and to the dissemination of engineering and scientific knowledge required to develop, to improve and to regulate biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry processes and products.

Building and Architectural Technology Institute
