Office of the Vice Provost for Research The Vice Provost for Research (VPR) is the chief research officer of the university and the spokesperson for the university on research issues. The VPR advises the Provost on research programs, technology transfer and planning initiatives related to research. The VPR has primary responsibility to stimulate the scholarly work of the university community by providing matching funds, developing and implementing new interdisciplinary research initiatives and fostering inter-university and university-industry research collaborations. The VPR also serves as the primary contact between the university and the federal and state funding agencies as well as industrial partners. In order to coordinate an effective research strategy for the university, the VPR works hand-in-hand with other important university services. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), and the Office of Technology Transfer report to the VPR. The Vice Provost for Research also works closely with Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) and Government Relations to solidify external relationships with industry, foundations, and government.
