Student Life > A-Z Index > Student Spotlight: Cara Diorio

Cara Diorio ‘07, a supply chain management major, knew that attending Lehigh would prepare her for a career by giving her a stellar education. But it’s the life lessons that the Bangor, Pa. native has learned through her involvement in student life that has helped prepare her for life.
“Lehigh offers a great balance of academics, athletics and other activities for a positive college experience,” says Diorio. “I know I will be prepared for the real world.”
Diorio, who will serve as Student Senate President for 2006-2007, was the Student Senate Secretary for 2005-2006, a Presidential Search Committee member, and served as the chair for the Student Senate University Life Improvements Committee and Campus Safety Committee. She is also a member of the Supply Chain Management Club, Dean’s Advisory Council, Women in Business Club, Business Ethics Club and a Wellness Peer Educator.
Outside of the classroom, says Diorio, it is important to interact with students at Lehigh on different levels. “There are so many opportunities to become involved in activities,” she says, “one just has to take advantage of them. It really is a great way to meet people from different backgrounds.”
She also credits her campus involvement in allowing her to develop a stronger connection to Lehigh while being able to meet a diverse group of people. “My experiences at Lehigh have helped me to listen to other’s perspectives even though I may not agree with them,” says Diorio, “it’s important to be open-minded.”
Diorio encourages students to get involved in as many clubs that fit their interests, saying “there are more than 140 clubs and intramural sports on campus. This is a great way to build friendships and become exposed to all that Lehigh has to offer besides the challenging academic programs.”
Diorio will spend a month this summer studying in Seville, Spain taking a Business Practices in Spanish Culture course.
